Meet Lupe Castillo
Lupe Castillo is running for US Congressional IL-04
Lupe Castillo is running for US Congress IL-04. She is an outspoken woman of action who isn’t afraid of a challenge. She is not afraid to advocate for a stronger southern border, preserve the Second Amendment, and end out-of-control spending in Washington, DC.
1. Why did you decide to run for office?
I decided to run for two reasons: A. I saw that there was no Republican candidate. I felt that Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia should not go unchallenged, especially in the political climate we're experiencing, and B. because I cannot stand what the Democrats have done—primarily in the last six years—and are trying to do to our country. I cannot stand by and observe my country head in a socialist direction.
2. What are you hoping to accomplish if you win?
The current 4th district Congressman, Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia, does not broadly represent the interests of his constituency, particularly those who live in DuPage County. He only represents the special interests that his party requires, such as non-citizen migrants, anti-gun advocates, the Death to America crowd, and the open borders - anti-police - anti-parent & anti-girl agendas.
I live in Chicago's 22nd Ward on the Southwest side, and Chuy has been my neighbor for nearly two decades. As your Congressman, I would like to represent EVERYONE in our district while also representing a more Conservative approach to governing our nation. I'm not one to play to the special interests or to donors. I'm more interested in hearing what YOU have to say while protecting your beliefs, your values, and your wallet.
3. What qualifications set you apart from other candidates?
I'm a woman, I'm a wife, I'm a mother, I'm a gun owner, and I'm a Conservative.
4. What specific actions will you take if you win?
I will work with other Republicans (and willing Democrats) in Washington, DC, to overhaul our immigration process, strengthen our border security, and properly distribute funds and personnel currently being used to feed, house, and process questionable asylum seekers.
I will work to get our American energy Industry back up and running again to its fullest capacity; there is no reason for us to be buying oil, gas, or any sort of energy from other countries. "Drill Baby, Drill"
Our law enforcement needs our support. They cannot perform their jobs without funding or verbal and moral support. I will work to get them what they need every single day.
5. Can you give an example of how you have supported a community project in the past?
I've never really supported any single project. I'm all over my neighborhood, wherever they need me. I work with the Little Village Community Council when they need my help. I am a CAPS facilitator for the 1013 sector in the 10th Chicago Police District, as well as a member of the DAC (District Advisory Committee) committee in the 10th police district. Obviously, I have not spent as much time outside of the Southwest Side of Chicago, working with groups in the Cook County suburbs or DuPage County. I really look forward to engaging within every nook & cranny in the 4th congressional district.
6. What else would you like voters to know about yourself?
As an only child, I've always had to figure things out for myself. I don't necessarily look for challenges, but I'll take them as they come. I was raised to help those people who I could, and I am the kind of person who will go in to see what's wrong in a situation rather than running away. I am somewhat outspoken, I will speak on behalf of others, if they can't do so for themselves. I have a few unique accomplishments, including knowing how to drive different styles of forklifts a few years ago in a specific work situation when I got tired of waiting for someone else to get things for me. Often, I am the kind of person who usually does something for myself, as I need to make sure the task is completed correctly - or at least as I expect it to be. I will ask for help if I can't accomplish something; otherwise, I will start over and try again.
7. In your opinion, what is a hidden gem of a restaurant or business in Downers Grove Township?
The Ballydoyle Irish Pub & Restaurant Is an establishment I have often visited in Downers Grove. I attended several concerts there. Always a good time and a very friendly staff.
8. What past president/political figure do you admire?
That would have to be President Ronald Reagan. "The Gipper" was not afraid to speak his mind, and he didn't owe anyone anything. Just like Trump, the media didn't like him. That comes with the territory of running for a national office (or state or local these days) as a Republican - be prepared for them to call you every name in the book without any justification other than you are a Republican. Presidents Reagan and Trump have spoken for the people and will remain on that pedestal in my eyes.
